Yes. Kind of. If you get the plates like the carne asada - it's like a deconstructed burrito so you can choose what you eat. They also have egg breakfast plates. Everything is good.
Pretty good tacos very close to the beach. Tacos are much bigger than I thought. Good flavor and quality of meat.
Great place to eat with great customer service! The cashier was very polite and friendly...she had a great smile.. I will definitely go back for the food and service.. it was worth the wait...
Great take out Mexican Food!
Best burritos in San Diego.
Been going to Claytons since 1980's. Best Carne Assadas in San Diego...!!!
I ate a pair of breakfast burritos here last week and they were fabulous. The to-go counter is bustling, the food is delicious and the breakfast is really good. There's also a to-go coffee counter directly next to the Mexican food counter which makes for a great quick breakfast combination!
Pricey but DELICIOUS.Definitely worth the money!
Fantastic burritos!!!! I have been here twice in three days, and I highly recommend it! Delicious burritos in the local style, for fantastic prices! Highly highly recommended! Try the California burrito!
Huge portions! My burrito filled me up for lunch and dinner! The price is so reasonable and I was happy! Also the cashier was super friendly!
I stumbled upon this place and it’s amazing. In four trips to annual trips to Coronado, Clayton’s Mexican Take Out is my favorite. I’ll definitely go back!
Best bean and cheese burrito I’ve EVER had❤️😃😃
Service and staff was phenomenal! Great little place at a great price! Food was fresh and fast.
Giant machaca burrito (chicken). $8.99. Not bad.
Very good service good place to eat
I came here only once on vacation. My daughter insisted we try their California Burrito. I have never had that before. I typically like more authentic Mexican food, but I thought it was amazing. Very tasty. I have thought about that burrito often since, and it's been a few years.
Hidden gem here. A co-worker told me about this during my last trip. I've always seen the Clayton's walk-up window but didn't realize this is something entirely different. Authentic mexican food you can order at their walk-up spot right beside the Clayton's window in a nondescript doorway. You can usually find it because you'll see aviators in their flight suits walking in around lunch time. My boyfriend was fresh off the plane to join me for the weekend and starving so I brought him here and he ordered a few of their fresh tacos and devoured them. He loved them. They have a pretty big menu. It's worth a stop!
Supreme burrito was great! My wife got the carne asada quesadilla and enjoyed it. I couldn't find a legitimate menu from the company directly, only photos from other customers. They recently updated all the prices, so check out the updated menu I posted. Prices effective as of this post on 7/15/2020
The carne asada tacos were EXCELLENT! It would be nice if the place was slightly bigger to accommodate more patrons but overall the service was great and so was the food :)
Clayton's had what I never knew I needed. Fantastic burritos filled with shrimp, fries, and beef!Such a fun place, check it out and you will not regret it!
Really good burritos. I got the chorizo burrito to-go and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was without the usual mess that comes with big burritos. Only real downsides were the cost (pretty high for what you’re getting) and the wait (I waited like 15 minutes for one burrito.)
Best rolled tacos in San Diego : ),
Fast service for a big order. Delicious Cali burrito at it's finest! 👍✌️
Great experience, called in order and was ready when i got there 10 minutes later. Everyone had smiles and very friendly. Almost too esay.
We were excited to try this place because of the reviews and the pictures but ended up being so disappointed! We ordered shrimp tacos, which looked great when they came out (see picture), also beef and fish tacos. The beef tacos were drenched in oil, they were so greasy. In the end we couldn't eat them and left feeling so ill. I definitely wouldn't go back, such a shame!
Delicious. A must in Coronado
Best burrito I've ever had! So glad my son guided me to this place. I had the fish burrito. They are HUGE and SUPERB!
Waiting to come back down to SD and stop at Clayton's for a California burrito. First place I stop at when I get off the plane. A definite place to eat at for good, inexpensive food. Will be the place I get my dinner before I leave. For the 4 days I'm in the area I'll probably eat here 3 or 4 times.
Incredible steak street tacos with the guacamole piled high. Fast and friendly service made a great lunch stop before an afternoon enjoying Coronado beach. Reasonably priced meter parking nearby if decide to go by car. No seating inside but has but has a few tables outside. Steak street tacos were $5.95 for three.
Great breakfast burrito.
Awful service, never will return.
Huevos a la mexicana!!! Mexican scrambled eggs all day long...yummmmy. Love their salsas, love their beans, burritos and guacamole and I REALLY love the people who work there.
These burritos are SAT! Don’t be fooled by those who claim they are UNSAT!
This is a great place for Mexican food on the island! It has large serving sizes and reasonable prices! The burritos are amazing! Getting them enchilada style added a great kick and flavor.
Best California burrito I've ever had!! Will be back soon.
They just opened back up within the last few days (thanks COVID). As of this review they have a pretty good system in place for social distancing. Unfortunately they were a bit overwhelmed and our order got lost. No big deal though. They offered free drinks in compensation. Still a 5 star experience in spite of the snafu.
This is the best Mexican food I’ve had in a long time—maybe ever. It’s take-out only, but better than any sit-down place. I will be craving this place until I get back to Coronado.
Friendly people and delicious food for a very affordable price.
Cool Little Place! The food was good. My Burrito was not outstanding but it was tasty. Both my wife and I chose the carne asada breakfast burritos. They should make guacamole and sour cream standard and it would really make this item stand out from the rest. They lady in the front was not as friendly as the cook that gave us ice. This is nice spot to get your quick Mexican fill. Cheers and GOD Bless!!
A cut above all the other generic burrito joints. Try the Coronado burrito. It's full of carne asada, shrimp, bacon, guacamole and rice! Also, they have the best green salsa I've ever tried.
Over priced and underwhelming. The burritos you see here cost $9 each! The cost is not a problem if it matches the product but in this case there is a huge disconnect. The meat seemed like something they got out of a can. The fries in the California were the cheap crinkle cut kind and were totally soggy mush. There wasn’t much flavor nor pride in the product. The customer service was non-existent. I came here based on a recommendation and I will not go back and I’m beginning to question my friend’s taste who recommended the place. If you are stuck in Coronado it’s better than starving but if you have a car, go over the bridge and check out Salud or heck even Taco Bell.
Had really good shrimp tacos.
Amazing! Got the Cha Cha breakfast burrito and it was amazing! Get there early or prepare to wait. Great coffee as well!
Best Mexican food on Coronado Island!
Hole in the wall, but amazing burritos! The Coronado is my go to with green salsa. Takes a while to get your food so make sure you give yourself sometime, it's worth the wait!
Corona Burrito. That's what's up.
Hit the spot. Just got into town and took a flyer and was very pleased with everything. Carne Asada taco was great and their Chicken taco was legit. Also had a fish taco. What I really liked was the homemade chips and salsa. Salsa was very fresh.
I always enjoy this cafe. The muffins and the food is really good. On the weekends its always a line to get in so get there early if you want a table or you can chose to sit at the counter. The waitress are very well knowledgeable about the menu. It's a 50 style restaurant very quite. I could give it 8 stars if I could
Ordered Chile Verde Burrito. It was so good! Tons of carnitas and beans! Flavor was on point! Only issue was there wasn’t enough Verde sauce. Overall, it was delicious!
I had the matchaka breakfast burrito, and it was pretty good. It's a relatively large burrito, I saved half of it for later in the day, and it was even better cold.Their mild green salsa is actually mild, which I loved, usually when I ask for mild at other places it is too spicy, but theirs was actually mild and had a good flavor. They have a small coke freestyle machine, so it has a good selection, but not the entire selection. They also have a cooler with bottled drinks like orange juice, Bai, Mexican coke, etc.
NOT mexican food. They have one type of chorizo burrito to order. That's all.
